Abstract:This paper brought forward the geometric analysis method of gravity center after analyzing the current research situation of gravity center. Adopting the data of population at the year-end (for population gravity center), GDP (for GDP gravity center), total investment in fixed assets (for investment gravity center), industrial waste gas (for waste gas gravity center), industrial waste water (for waste water gravity center), industrial solid wastes (for solid wastes gravity center) from the statistical yearbook of Shaanxi from 1989 to 2003, we calculated and analyzed the social economy gravity center and environmental pollution gravity center of Shaanxi province from different aspects of the shift direction, distance, slope, spatial correlate and contrastive route in longitude and latitude.
We found that the population gravity center, GDP gravity center, waste gas gravity center and solid wastes gravity center of Shaanxi wore the dynamic tendency of higher longitude and higher latitude; the in vestment gravity center and waste water gravity center went towards the higher latitude with adverse turning. The social economy gravity center and environmental pollution gravity center correlated positive in latitude; in longitude, the population gravity center and GDP gravity center correlated positive with the waste gas gravity center and solid wastes gravity center, negative with the waste water gravity center; but in longitude, the investment gravity center correlated negative with the waste gas gravity center and solid wastes gravity center, positive with waste water gravity center.
